AS Laksana, born in Semarang, Java, is a well-known writer, critic, and journalist whose short stories and reporting have been published in many national-level publications in Indonesia, including Detik-Detak. A graduate of Gadjah Mada University, he helped found the Jakarta School, a creative writing program. His short story collection Wandering Angel (Bidadari yang Mengembara) was chosen by Tempo magazine as the best literary book of 2004.
