Opportunities

Ready to dive into the literary magazine world?

  Come work with us!

Engagement Editor

Pangyrus Literary Magazine (pangyrus.com) seeks an enthusiastic people person to help us get the word out about Pangyrus and boost the work of our authors! We’d like to grow our subscriber base, get our print publications in more hands, increase our readership online, and engage more actively through events. The Managing Editor for Engagement will work with the Editor in Chief and others to develop strategies and help execute them, with the broad mandate of enriching Pangyrus as a place for greater connection and conversation, and with plenty of room for creative endeavors such as launching podcasts and craft-advice columns.

The ideal candidate will be a whiz at social media and newsletters, highly organized and responsive in organizing events, and a friendly, responsive email presence.

Managing Editor for Publications

Pangyrus Literary Magazine (pangyrus.com) publishes two print publications a year. We seek a Managing Editor who will work closely with the Editor in Chief and other editors to produce them. This editor will play a leading role in the selection of pieces to be published, dreaming up themes and concepts for anthologies, and organizing the editing, production, and publicity efforts

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, skilled at InDesign or equivalent software,  have a strong sense of design, and somehow strike a balance between the friendly, collaborative leadership style of a volunteer-driven organization, and the perfectionism needed for print production.

We are also looking for an Assistant Managing Editor to work with the two editors above; experience with events and/or podcasting is a huge plus.

As a primarily volunteer-driven organization, full of writers who need to prioritize their own work, we strive to make sure every position can be done in just a handful of hours a week. For those open to bigger roles, we are open to negotiating a modest stipend.

To Apply

Please submit a cover letter identifying which position you are interested in and a resume to pangyrus@gmail.com. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis until the positions are filled. No phone calls please. Thank you for your interest!
